The New Orleans meeting is right around the corner. The Estate and Gift Tax Committee will meet on Saturday, October 18th, from 3:30 to 6:00.
What makes this meeting relevant to you? It's the content! Pressing matter have you puzzled? Something you always wanted to understand better? What better way to learn than to ask this gaggle of gurus to expound upon it!
An now, a limited-time offer: If you reply now with your topic idea, I promise NOT to ask you to present it (unless you want to). Yes, I know that isn't the way these things normally work, but what better way to get your pet idea vetted than to have someone ELSE do the leg work? I'm happy to find a "volunteer" to talk about the topic of your choice.*
And how about this meeting's popular Open Forum topic? Recent topics include:
* Should all-to-QTIP-Trust or all-to-Clayton-Trust be the new starting point for estate planning clients? (Philadelphia)
* The Delaware Tax Trap (Fort Worth)
* Changing your client "script" to discuss portability (Tucson)
* All about basis (Dana Point)
What would you like to discuss and hear others' view about? How not to fund that bypass trust? How to minimize the impact of discount planning? How to "unplan" client estates, pre- or post-mortem? Vote for one of these or offer one of your own!
I'm looking forward to seeing you all in The Crescent City next month.
Best,
Mickey

*Okay, within reason. I'll do my best to find someone to take on topics reasonably related to the scope of the Estate an Gift Tax Committee
